South Orange is a historic community just 15 miles west of New York City, and is known as the home of Seton Hall University. The Village of South Orange is at the town’s center, and includes the train station, fire department, shops, dining and entertainment including the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) and Bowtie Cinemas. The station is a quick 35 minute ride from New York City’s Penn Station via the express Midtown direct train on the Morris & Essex Line. Approximately 3,600 passengers use the Morris & Essex Line every weekday having the opportunity to see the signs twice daily, and passengers on the trains themselves have view of the signs upon stopping at the station.
